Popular Rock Band Frontman Passed Away At 64

David Roach, lead singer of Los Angeles hard rock band Junkyard, has died at 64, just two weeks after marrying his wife. His bandmates shared the news on Instagram, noting he passed peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in 1960, Roach became the charismatic frontman of Junkyard in the mid-1980s, helping define L.A. hard rock with his raw, soulful vocals and commanding stage presence. Hits like “Hollywood” and “Still Standing” showcased his talent and cemented the band’s cult following. Junkyard’s self-titled debut (1989) and Sixes, Sevens & Nines (1991) remain touchstones of their era, blending hard rock, punk energy, and blues roots.

Beyond Junkyard, Roach explored Americana and roots projects, earning respect for his authenticity and dedication. Diagnosed in 2025 with aggressive squamous cell carcinoma, his friends organized a GoFundMe to support him. His legacy as a gifted artist, performer, and devoted family man endures.
